First CNG-Petrol Dual Engine in India Introduced by Maruti

Yeah! It is winning moment of Maruti. In its quest to bring better and more fuel efficient cars, Maruti Suzuki is developing a brand new petrol-CNG dual engine that is capable of cutting down the fuel bill to one-fourth. Technicians at Maruti Suzuki’s R&D are close to developing a new multi-point fuel-injection (MPFI) technology in CNG mode which will help in eliminating loss of power and efficiency associated with current retro-fitted engines. Once the engine is developed successfully it will be one of the cheapest engines to run anywhere.

Currently CNG kits are fitted externally to the petrol engines that supply fuel in single flow which results in loss of benefit of the multi-point nature of petrol engine. Less usage of fossil fuel will also result in less CO2 emission and will be compliant with the latest standards; the new engine will deliver better pick up and an enormous savings of fuel bill. The company has invested in dual fuel engines after it received survey feedbacks that hybrid and electric cars are not feasible due to their high price tags. With new eco-friendly cars and better fuel economy, the new dual engine from Maruti is set to revolutionize the auto industry in the 21st century.

2 New Electric Cars from Reva Electric

Reva Electric Car Company is set to introduce two new car models in India next year. Both the models will cater to domestic as well as overseas demands and will be manufactured at the company’s second plant coming up near Bangalore. They are investing Rs 300 million (Rs 30 crore) in the second plant that will eventually have an installed capacity of 30,000 units per annum. They plan to roll out NXR by mid-2010 and NXG a year later (mid-2011).

Global investors Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Global Environment Fund have invested in the new project of Reva which showcased both the models at the recent Frankfurt Auto Show in Germany. Reva NXR and Reva NXG are the two new models of which NXR is a four-seater, two door hatchback family car and NXG is two-seater sporty model.

Moreover, the company will also be able to use the distribution network of General Motors across the country to sell its cars as Reva has joined hands with General Motors India. The company is pleased to join hands with Reva to bring affordable small car platform based electric vehicles to the market in line with government objectives to reduce fossil fuel dependence. GM’s ability to develop platforms and Reva’s capability in developing electric drive-trains and control systems will result in the consumer having a wider choice of EVs.

Citroen Rivolte : Unique Car Uncovered at the Frankfurt Auto Show

Citroen recently uncovered its latest model of eco-friendly cars, Rivolte, which gives the first impression of being a strange car. Its external design reminds us of the Citroen 2CV (Deux Cheveux) and interiors of a woman’s jewelry box. It’s a car with velvet interiors! The overall upholstery is multi-coloured and the interiors are done in gleaming aluminum.

The car measures 145 inches long, 67 inches wide and 52 inches tall. It is a bit shorter than the new Citroen C3 and it has been designed to deliver lively, low emission motoring where its sculpted sides help to enhance its diminutive profile. The Revolte is a bridge between the past and the future. Yeah! It is absolutely true!

The company has not revealed any official output figures for the car but the press release states, it is a 'lively performer with strong acceleration'. It has an unspecified small-capacity conventional combustion engine combined with an electric motor and a battery re-charging function. The car is completely thorough with technology running everywhere including the roof which has solar panels to boost the battery life. What remains to be seen is whether this car makes it to the production line or not?

Kia Venga : A New Dream at Frankfurt Auto Show

Yeah! It is a new dream at Frankfurt Auto Show. Kia introduced its new model Venga at the Frankfurt Auto Show. The new model manufactured in Europe is a 5-seater MPV in the B-segment that goes on sale in Europe later this year. The latest model from Kia stable comes with two warranties to lure European buyers - a 7-year (drivetrain) / 5-Years (whole car) per 150,000 kilometers warranty and a 10-Year anti-corrosion warranty.

The car is based on the Soul platform which has the space of Focus and footprints of Fiesta. The Venga will be powered by 1.4 and 1.6 petrol and diesel engines, producing between 74bhp and 113bhp. It features an unusually long wheelbase for its class (2,615 mm) - and a 1600 mm high roofline to maximise cabin space. Every engine in the Kia Venga line-up will be available with Kia's fuel-stretching Start/Stop (ISG) technology and will comply with Euro 5 emission standards. Start/Stop (ISG) equipped models will have a CO2 rating from just 117 g/km (1.4-litre U2 engine).

Kia Venga will certainly deliver all the practicality and versatility that a European family could require. It will also provide them with the most stylish transport this segment has ever seen. On the road, its performance and agility will surpass the class norm. Kia Venga will ensure that rewarding, fun-to-drive motoring is now available to drivers whose lifestyles demand an MPV.

Kia portrays Venga as the latest family car and derives its name from Spanish vocabulary. The overall look of the car is trendy with a modern feel suited for modern urban lifestyle.
