Tata Indica Vista EV Ready to Fly over Norway

The Indica Vista electric car project worth Rs. 160 crores in Norway has nearly reached its completion. Norway government has extended all its support to the company in setting up the assembling plant in their country. Tata Motors is ready to ship semi-knocked down kits of Tata Indica Vista electric car to Norway now which will then be assembled further there. It will later scale up its project as per the demands from other Scandinavian markets.

Tata Indica Vista EV will be the second electric car export to European countries after Reva G-Wiz. Indica Vista EV was first showcased by Tata Motors at the 79th Geneva Motor Show. It has been designed and developed by the UK subsidiary of Tata Motors, Tata Motors European Technical Center. It is capable of carrying four people and can reach a maximum speed limit of 151 kmph and acceleration of 0-60kmph in under 10 seconds.

Indica Vista will be manufactured in Norway in association with Miljo Grenland / Innovasjon, Norway where Tata Motors European Technical Center PLC has a 70 percent stake.

On the other hand, Tata Motors’ Electric car project in the UK has not materialized so far due to lack of confirmatory support from the British government. Tata Motors had proposed setting up another plant in Britain with the help of government support.

Dharwad : Tata's New Nano Plant

Will luck smile on the state of Karnataka? Tata Motors is completely tight-lipped like always about the whole issue. Karnataka state government had initially offered 1000 acres of land to Tata Motors when it was planning to shift from Singur amidst rising controversies from the Bengal farmers. Initially the state government was ready to allocate 600 acres of land immediately and rest 400 acres over a period of three months. The negotiations were not fruitful then but now Tata Motors seems to be seriously contemplating its options to set a firm foot in the State with a second Nano plant in Dharwad.

The Principal Secretary, Department of Industries and Commerce, Mr V. Umesh, said Tata Motors’ officials had visited two sites near Dharwad which could be offered for the project. Murgesh Nirani, Minister for Large and Medium Industries met Ratan Tata, Chairman of Tata Motors, “to take forward the negotiations on relocating the Nano project to Dharwad,” he said.

Last week, a Tata Motors team led by its Managing Director, Mr Ravi Kant, met the Karnataka Chief Minister, Mr B.S. Yeddyurappa, and discussed the possibility of locating the Nano plant in the State. The state government has assured all the help needed by the company for setting up its plant.

Manesar : Maruti's New Home

Yeah! It is true. Maruti Production to Shift Partly from Gurgaon to Manesar. Maruti is planning to shift some of its production capacity from Gurgaon to its Manesar plant. The whole process will be carried out in a phased manner. However, the company did not indicate production of which models will be shifted to the new production unit. The Gurgaon plant will be gradually changed to a base for engine assembly and machining, while automobile assembly will be integrated at Manesar plant.

Currently, Maruti Omni, Versa, M800 and Gypsy are being manufactured at the Gurgaon plant. There are total three plants in Gurgaon with a total production capacity of 6.2 lakh units. Together they produce other models as well viz., Alto, Wagon R, Estilo and Ritz. Manesar unit manufactures A-Star, SX4, Swift and Swift Dzire models.

The company decided to shift the production from Gurgaon to Manesar during MSI’s annual general meeting when Suzuki Motor Corp’s chairman and the CEO were in India to attend the AGM. The Gurgaon plant was built in early 1970s and was refurbished before Maruti began its production in 1983 at this plant.

Porsche 911 Sports Classic : Take A New Look of It!

Here are some of the latest comments from famous auto magazines and auto critics about the car that is set to debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show.

The car is a look back to simpler times, featuring a straightforward drivetrain and high-quality execution. It draws inspiration from one of the greatest hallmarks in 911 history: the Carrera RS 2.7. That inspiration, it seems, is largely cosmetic. The product of Porsche's Exclusive division, the Sport Classic receives 19-inch wheels patterned after the early Fuchs rims, and a new interpretation of the classic ducktail spoiler out back.

Only 250 units of the limited edition model will be made but none will arrive in United States. Some of the classic features it showcases are the "ducktail" rear spoiler used on the 1973 Carrera RS 2.7, the black headlight surrounds from the 1974 Turbo RSR, he double-dome roof from Carrera GT and the 911 Panamericana show car.

It's Ford' Latest Piece : C-Max

The latest MPV from Ford, C-Max, is coming up at the Frankfurt Auto Show. The company will reveal full details of the car at the auto show itself. However, it did indicate that the new Ford C-Max will have several new features like semi-automatic parallel parking and a blind-spot detection system.

The C-MAX is based on a new platform which will also be used for the next-generation Focus. Both cars will go on sale in the second half of 2010. Ford has dropped ‘Focus’ from the brand name and now it will be only Ford C-Max which will compete with Mazda 5, Renault Scenic and Vauxhall Zafira.

When the C-Max goes into production in the second half of next year it will be among the first vehicles to use the 1.6-liter EcoBoost four cylinder. The 1.6-liter will likely be rated at somewhere in the 170-180 hp range. The C-Max is likely to form the basis of Ford's upcoming passenger EV that debuts in 2011.
