Hyundai i10 Diesel Coming to India

It is a good news for Hyundai fans that now Hyundai is getting ready to bring the i10 diesel variant in India. Hyundai i10 model has already created history by clocking 100,000 sales figures in record time and the fastest 3 lakh sales since its launch in October 31, 2007. Out of the first three lakh cars sold, 1.44 lakh were sold in the domestic market and 1.56 lakh were sold in the overseas markets. The company has also launched the car in the Nigerian market.

The diesel variant is expected early next year and is likely to be fitted with 1.1L CRDi engine. Customers can expect the car to be priced at least 15-20 percent higher than its petrol version. The 1.1L engine will qualify the car for small car excise norms which is also tweaked for better fuel efficiency and improved drivability. The higher torque of the engine is geared to deliver the best driving experience amongst all diesel cars in the segment.

According to anonymous sources quoted in one of the English dailies, the company is planning to invest Rs. 500 Cr. at its Sriperumbudur plant to install a new engine plant with a capacity of producing at least 100,000 engines. So, just wait to welcome the new Hyundai i10 Diesel.

Ignite Your Car with Laser Technology

I know, everyone can amaze with this subject line but it is true. All you can now ignite your car with Laser Technology.

Ford and the Liverpool University have developed a new technology for igniting fuel with the help of laser technology. The new technology of using laser beams to ignite the fuel is more efficient and much simpler than the current spark plug technology. The advantage of this laser technology is that, it will help the car to start faster, especially in cold and damp seasons.

The new technology is still in testing stage and will pass several stages before it is finally implemented in the modern day cars. The laser rays will concentrate and can be diverted to multiple beams to give multiple ignition points and this in turn will result in better chance of ignition.

Experts believe that this new technology will not only help to ignite the cars more efficiently but will also enhance the fuel efficiency of the cars. Currently the engines that use the spark plug technology are placed at the top or the bottom which poses difficulties in cold weather. Indian customers may not experience such weather throughout the year but those in the western world will definitely welcome such a technology.

General Motors New Limited Edition : Chevrolet Aveo

General Motors launched the new Chevrolet Aveo in the market which is a limited edition, face lifted variant of the existing model. Ashok Vichare : The First Nano Owner

Just look at the picture and the person sitting at the driving wheel. Yeah! His name is Mr. Ashok Vichare. Ratan Tata signed the name of Ashok Vichare in the history of automobile industry as he became the first proud owner of the world’s cheapest car – Tata Nano.

Ratan Tata, the Chairman of the $62.5 billion Tata Group, who had promised to deliver the "people's car" at just Rs 100,000 ($2,500) at factory gates, himself handed over the car keys to Ashok Vichare. Ashok Raghunath Vichare booked Tata Nano earlier this year in April and was one of the few selected lucky customers whose name appeared on the allotment list. He became the proud owner of a gleaming silver-coloured Nano today.

Vichare decided to drive the car first to the Siddhi Vinayak Temple in Mumbai which is the city's iconic and famous temple. Vichare’s family had accompanied him to the showroom and attended the ceremony along with Vichare. They drove off on Mumbai streets and headed towards the temple.

The second owner of Tata Nano was Ashish Balakrishnan, but his dream turned out to be a nightmare as he lost his keys soon after Ratan Tata handed over the set of keys to him. Tata Motors will give new duplicate keys to Balakrishnan on Saturday and his cousin will drive off the car.
