TVS Apache RTR, M&M to bump off US Market

Yeah! It is true. TVS Motors is ready to launch its 160cc bike in the US by the end of this year. Royal Enfield already marks its presence in America and Mahindra and Mahindra is also planning to launch its Mahindra Scorpio SUV. The US market is one of the most developed markets in the world. TVS has already cleared its mandatory technical and emission tests for its bike and the model will foray into the US market later this year.

"We are in the launching mode, and finalising our entry into the US market. Our bike has met all stringent technical norms in the US and we have also appointed distributor to sell our products in the market. The company will launch our advanced fuel injection Apache in the US. We have tweaked the product we already sell in India with some minor changes to meet the US automotive standards,” said HS Goindi, TVS Motor president (marketing & sales).

TVS is in talks with American two-wheeler importer and distributor – Classic Motorworks that already sells Royal Enfield Bullet, Chroma and Classic models in the US. The US distributor has also expressed in the selling the TVS models in the US market.

Indian Auto Market : Best and Not-So-Best Models

No one can imagine that each year 20 auto makers be agitated out nearly 400 models in the Indian auto market. Out of these, six models constitute nearly 63 percent market share. Surprisingly, three of these six models belong to the Maruti stable.

Last calendar year I found nearly 50 new models in the country but sales figures for Maruti Alto topped the chart followed by Wagon R, Tata Indica, Maruti Swift, Hyundai i10 and the good Hyundai Santro. Sales of Swift (both sedan and hatchback) performed excellently in the market. These six models together sold nearly 7.6 lakh units in the last calendar year. Small car segment clearly dominated the market and this segment showed little signs of slow down due to the credit crisis or global meltdown. Analysts expect that dominated presence of Maruti may be over-shadowed this year with the launch of Tata Nano in this segment. This micro car may drastically shuffle the conventional matrix of the Indian car market.

On the other hand, there are models which sold in low figures as well – Skoda Fabia, Ford Fusion, Hyundai Sonata and Fiat 500, have not tallied impressive numbers.

Mahindra's New Variant : Xylo MPV with ABS (Anti-lock Breaking System)

After Mahindra's Beautiful Dream XYLO again they are ready to launch new features in its popular MPV Xylo by the end of this month. The higher end model of Xylo E8 will now have anti-braking system as an option and will be available at a price of Rs. 818,535. All Mahindra dealerships will offer this option from June end.

It happens because they have got customer feedback and suggestions on their Xylo E8. Anti-lock Breaking System (ABS) is an option in the Xylo E8. Now ABS makes the XYLO an even safer vehicle to drive. Further they are going to introduce this technology in other variants in future based on customer's demand.

Mahindra Xylo was launched earlier this year and has taken the MPV market by storm ever since its launch. It has been one of the most successful models to be launched this year and has already crossed 16,000 bookings in India. It offers complete luxury comforts of a SUV and the new anti-braking system will further improve vehicle stability by preventing the wheels from locking when brakes are applied on any skid-prone surface (snow, water, loose gravel, or even oil). Electric and Hybrid Cars from Tata Motors

Yeah! It is the right news that Tata Motors is going to build Electric and Hybrid Cars on Nano Platform. They are planning to launch electric and hybrid cars in India. It will manufacture these cars on Nano platform . It means again we have to wait another miracle from Tata Motors in the form of electric car that come in the market soon.

If we think on Nano, it's my feelings that the Nano is not a simple small car. But whatever is the matter, the ready platform of Nano is being used to create higher end models suited for families and will sell for higher price with better margins. For some days, we have to wait for its price and the specifications of this new cars.

It is a micro-hybrid version likely to be supplied by German engineering major, Bosch. As we know that currently, Bosch is supplying the fuel and braking systems for the Nano. So ready for such a micro-hybrid car soon.
