India's Car Market Shift: Hyundai Acquires Talegaon Plant from General Motors

General Motors, a big car company from America, has left India after not selling cars there for six years. They sold their car-making place, called the Talegaon plant, to Hyundai Motor India.

Hyundai plans to start making cars at the Talegaon plant in 2025. They will spend a lot of money, about Rs 5,000 crore, over the next ten years to improve the place. Even though some workers protested, the deal was finished after the court said it was okay.

The deal was signed in a place called the National Capital Region. Important people from Hyundai and General Motors were there.

Hyundai Motor India said that they are buying the land, buildings, and things at the Talegaon Plant. But it still needs some permissions and approvals before everything is done.

Hyundai wants to make lots of cars at the Talegaon plant and another place in Chennai. They want to make one million cars each year. They also want to make more electric cars and help India use more clean energy.

The Talegaon plant can make 130,000 cars in one year. But Hyundai wants to make it bigger and make even more cars, maybe one million.

The government in Maharashtra, where the Talegaon plant is, made sure everything was okay for the deal. Even though some workers did not like it, the court said it could happen.

Last week, important people from the Maharashtra government said they are trying to solve problems with the workers. They want the deal to go smoothly and make Hyundai happy.
