Luxury Sedan from Volvo Coming In India

Volvo will introduce anew its luxury sedan S60 in Europe by late 2010. According to sources, Volvo India is also planning to launch this sedan in the Indian market by end of 2010. The car will be imported as a completely built unit just like its other models XC90 and S80. The parent manufacturing facility for S60 is located in Belgium. The model was phased out earlier this year in May but is being reintroduced now.

Volvo India has been looking at setting up a manufacturing unit in India. It has been late in entering the Indian car market but it will finalize its plans for manufacturing operations only when its sales figures reach at least 3000 units. Volvo sold only 100 units in India in 2008. It faces stiff competition from Mercedes, BMW and Audi as these brands also assemble their cars in India.

Volkswagen Polo : It Just Costs Rs. 4 Lakh

Yeah! It is the competition now begins with other rivals like Maruti. The Volkswagen is aiming a price of Rs. 4 lakh for its brand new car establishing by this year-end or early next year. Volkswagen is ready to bring out its small car model Polo in the Indian auto market powered by 1.2L petrol engine. It aims to sell at least 25,000 units annually in India. The car will be placed in the A2 segment and will compete with models like Honda Jazz.

Skoda experienced a halfhearted response to its model Fabia and Honda Jazz was also slow in breaking up volume sales due to its respectable price tag. Actualizing the grandness of price sensitive Indian market, Volkswagen is making no mistakes while pricing its new model.

Volkswagen currently has Jetta and Passat models in its product portfolio which are both high-end cars. However, it intends to generate volume sales with Polo and therefore it intends to price it extremely competitively.

Volkswagen has already invested nearly Rs. 3300 crores and has received fresh financing from the World Bank to the tune of Rs. 920 crores. However, the tenure for complete financing is not available as yet. The company intends to launch environmental friendly models and increase its market presence with more dealer networks. So, just think over it to buy Volkswagen Polo prior to the variants of other competitors.

Toyota Fortuner On The Road This Month

Toyota Kirloskar Motors is ready to launch its new model Fortuner in India. The car will be launched on August 24, 2009 with an aim to gain at least 50 percent of the market share in the SUV segment. Toyota is already a winner in this segment with its model Innova.

Toyota Fortuner will be the last model from the company this year after which it will be focusing on bringing its small compact car in the Indian market. Meanwhile, the company will continue to launch facelifted models or limited edition models of its existing models in the Indian market.

Toyota has recently launched a face lifted model of its sedan Toyota Camry in India. In fact, Camry is not a volume product. It is more of a brand and 'showcasing of technologies' by Toyota. The New Camry sports new design exterior, is available in two colours - Dark Green Mica Metallic and Beige Mica Metallic - and its other features include Plasmacluster A/C with Minus Ion Generator, intelligent rain sensing wipers and moon roof.

Toyota Fortuner is expected to be priced around Rs. 20 lakhs in the Indian market and the company aims to sell at least 2000 units by the end of this year. It will be available in three variants.

Chevrolet Aveo : The Car at Glance

A nicely harmonized brawny car with an belligerent posture – that is the Chevrolet Aveo! It is a car built for the masses, designed to please most of the onlookers and it gets marks for its design and style. General Motors has in the Aveo, a well-designed sedan which is solid and comfortable. The main features of 1.6 LT include Alloy wheels, leather upholstery, rear defogger with timer, tiltable steering column, double DIN radio with MP3, 6 speakers, ABS, Driver Air bag and Remote keyless entry with anti theft alarm.

The front brakes on all four variants are ventilated disc brakes which don’t get heated up, whereas the rear has self adjusting drum brakes.

As on most of its cars, General Motors India gives a 3 year / 1.0 lakh KM warranty on the car, but as we know, it does to some extent depend on how your dealer deals with you after the sale.

Design and Style

On the outer side, the car definitely has a sporty look. A pleasant design, clear headlamps, flared wheel arches and triangular tail lamps boast of a classy design and look - no complaints with the design and style!

As far as the interiors are concerned, the car has comfortable interiors with cool looks so you do not get a dull, boring feeling with its interiors, especially considering that Indian customers tend to own cars for longer spells. It is important to have cool interiors with a peppy beat that give a cool ambience whenever you drive.

The higher end versions come with all luxuries like leather upholstery, alloy wheels, 2-DIN audio system and remote control keyless entry. The 1.6 LT has a sound system with six speakers and a rear spoiler as well. The top model further comes with 2 safety bags in front and anti-braking system.

Other Features and Price

This mid –sized sedan from General Motors is priced at Rs. 5.84 lakh and above but it is definitely great value for money with an unparalleled road presence. The price of spare parts is low which makes the car all the more attractive to own.

You cannot compare Aveo with the smooth gears and drivability of Honda City. But yes, if you are looking for a complete budget sedan with low maintenance cost, great design and good handling and ride quality, opt for a Chevrolet Aveo.
